I used to work for steel mill roll manufacturer Mackintosh-Hemphill in Pittsburgh in the 70's and 80's. 54" diameter rolls were cast in the foundry and turned in the roll shop. I think they may have been plate mill rolls. The foundry poured over 60 ton for one roll. They were over 20' long.

I was lucky enough to play a Miraphone through Junior and Senior High school. A beautiful instrument.
